Formatting Guidelines
File Format and Length
Manuscripts are accepted in .doc or .docx formats (macros must be disabled). The font must be Times New Roman, 11 pt, with single line spacing. The recommended length is between 6 and 20 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
Article Structure
The editorial board adheres to the international IMRAD standard. The recommended structure is outlined below:
| Element | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Title | Concise and precise, not exceeding 15 words |
| Authors and Affiliations | Full names, organization, city, country |
| Abstract | 150–250 words; must include the objective, methods, results, and conclusions |
| Keywords | 5–8 words or phrases, separated by semicolons |
| Introduction | Relevance, literature review, and the objective of the study |
| Materials and Methods | A reproducible description of the experimental procedures |
| Results | Presentation of the acquired data |
| Discussion | Interpretation of the results and comparison with literature data |
| Conclusion | Brief summary of findings |
| Funding | Sources of research support (if applicable) |
| Conflict of Interest | The manuscript must include a distinct subheading "Conflict of Interest" immediately preceding the references. All authors must state the presence or absence of financial, professional, personal, or other circumstances that influenced or could be perceived as potentially influencing the results or their interpretation. In the absence of a conflict, the following phrasing must be used: "The authors declare no conflict of interest." If a conflict exists, its nature must be briefly disclosed. |
| References | In-text citations must be enclosed in square brackets and numbered in order of their initial appearance: [1], [2, 3], [4–6]. The reference list must comply with GOST R 7.0.5—2008 "Bibliographic Reference. General Requirements and Rules of Composition" and be placed after the body text under the heading "References". For each source, the DOI must be provided as an active link in the format https://doi.org/.... if available. A separate English-language block designated as "References" is also mandatory. In this section, Russian-language sources must be presented in the Latin alphabet: authors' surnames, article titles, and journal or book names must be transliterated. The transliterated article title must be followed by its English translation enclosed in square brackets, and (In Russ.) must be appended at the end of the entry. Sources originally published in a foreign language must be cited in their original language, without transliteration or translation. |
Combining the “Results” and “Discussion” sections is permissible. For review articles, the structure may be modified subject to prior agreement with the editorial board.
English Title and Abstract
The article title, author and institutional information, abstract, and keywords must be submitted in both Russian and English. The English-language metadata must be precise, terminologically accurate, and consistent with the content of the Russian text. Regardless of the translation method used, the authors bear full responsibility for its quality. The editorial board reserves the right to return English metadata for revision.
Formulas
Complex formulas must be typeset using the built-in Microsoft Word Equation Editor. Latin letters in formulas must be italicized, while Cyrillic letters and numerals must be in regular (roman) font. The definitions of symbols within any formula must strictly follow the order of their appearance. Variables displayed in the numerator must be defined first, followed by those in the denominator. All definitions must be provided only once and should not be repeated subsequently. Only symbols or variables unfamiliar to the reader require definition.
The use of the MathType formula editor is also permissible. In this case, the Arial font is mandatory for all elements of the formula..
Figures and Tables
References (Detailed Section)
In-text citations must be enclosed in square brackets and numbered sequentially in the order of their initial appearance: [1], [2], [3–5].
The reference list must be structured into two blocks:
The numbering in both blocks must be identical. Every source cited in the text must be present in both blocks; sources not mentioned in the text must not be included in the list.
For sources published in English or another language using the Latin alphabet, official bibliographic data must be provided in its original spelling within the “References” block.
For Russian and other Cyrillic sources, the “References” block requires the authors to:
The DOI must be specified in the format: https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxxx. A DOI must not be replaced by a hyperlink to the publisher’s website, a database, or a search page. Authors are required to verify the correctness of every DOI, the spelling of surnames, the publication year, volume, issue, and page numbers prior to manuscript submission. The editorial board reserves the right to return the manuscript for revision in the event of incomplete, inaccurate, or inconsistent formatting of the reference list.
Rules for Name and Surname Transliteration
For the author’s personal data, priority is given to a single, consistent variant of Latin spelling already established in the author’s ORCID, Scopus Author ID, Web of Science Researcher Profile, passport, or previous publications. Surnames are not translated. The same author must utilize a single spelling across all articles, metadata, and reference lists.
If no established Latin variant exists for the author or the cited Russian source, transliteration according to the BSI system must be applied. For a previously published source, the official Latin variant of its bibliographic description must be used if available.
| Cyrillic | Latin (BSI) |
|---|---|
| Е, Ё, Э | E |
| Ж | Zh |
| Й | I |
| Х | Kh |
| Ц | Ts |
| Ч | Ch |
| Ш | Sh |
| Щ | Shch |
| Ы | Y |
| Ю | Iu |
| Я | Ia |
| Ь, Ъ | omitted; an apostrophe / double quotation mark is permissible in combinations according to BSI |
Examples: Ivanov Aleksey Andreevitch — Ivanov A. A.; Fedorova Mariya Sergeevna — Fedorova M. S.; Zhukov Vitaliy Igorevich — Zhukov V. I.; Shcherbakov Yuriy Pavlovich — Shcherbakov Iu. P.
It is recommended to use transliteration without diacritics and apostrophes (the BSI system or simplified GOST).
