Abstract. The set goals for reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere from fuel combustion in process furnaces are especially relevant for oil refineries, where fuel stability is a key success factor in achieving minimum carbon dioxide emissions. If we analyze the work of most plants, the composition of fuel gas consumed by technological furnaces is often characterized by unstable main components. For example, the main components whose content in the fuel gas of oil refineries varies significantly are hydrogen and the heavier hydrocarbon gases propane and butane. The instability of the fuel gas composition leads to a change in the key factor — the calorific value of the fuel and, accordingly, to a change in the ratio of fuel gas and air during combustion. In turn, the instability of the fuel gas leads to the need to maintain the excess air coefficient at a higher value and, accordingly, there is an increase in heat loss to the environment. It is possible to compensate for increased heat losses to the environment only by increasing the corresponding fuel gas consumption, which leads to an increase in carbo.
