Abstract. The composition of lubricant for heavy-loaded traction gearboxes of locomotives and gearboxes of agricultural, industrial and road equipment with increased tribological properties and heat resistance in a wide viscosity range is presented.
Semi-liquid lubricants used in traction gearboxes of locomotives with gears are known: CIATIM-208 (GOST 16422-70), STP-L, STP-Z (TU 38.USSR 201232-76), Transol-200 (TU 38.USSR 20352- 84), OSP-L, OSP-Z (TU U 23.2-30802090-027:2004). However, high loads and sudden temperature changes in the friction unit during operation of equipment, especially in winter conditions, quickly reduce the tribological properties of all these lubricants, and, accordingly, their service life. In addition, the technologies for producing bitumen lubricants STP-L and STP-Z and their formulations are complex. Unlike analogues, the developed lubricant composition contains sulfurization products of a mixture of tar and spindle oil oxidized by hydrogen peroxide, air in the presence of a vegetable oil catalyst. When the friction unit of equipment operates at high temperatures and high loads, mainly due to the conversion of organosulfur compounds of the oil base into sulfones with high boiling points, its heat resistance increases. Based on the results of the research, RF patent No. 2502791 “Composition of lubricant for gearboxes and a method for its production” was obtained, technology, technical specifications were developed and the production of STP and OSP gear lubricants was organized.
