Abstract. In 2025, the Russian lubricants market entered a contraction phase: production of finished lubricants fell to 1.65 mln t (−7.2% year-on-year), while domestic consumption declined to 1.67 mln t (−5.9%). At the same time, exports grew by 6.6%, and imports stabilized at around 0.23 mln t. In the first quarter of 2026, however, the retail segment already showed signs of recovery: +2.1% in lubricant sales and +11.2% in technical fluids year-on-year. The paper examines five key factors that will shape the market in the coming years: the redistribution of market shares among producers, the diverging trajectories of the B2B and B2C segments, the premiumization of the product offering, the transformation of demand in the automotive sector, and a large-scale regulatory overhaul.
