Abstract. The prospects for the development of the greases market in the Russian Federation and worldwide are considered. The fastest-growing demand worldwide is for sulfonate greases based on high alkaline calcium sulfonates, which are also used as detergent-dispersant additives in lubricating oils. These greases are used in challenging operating conditions, such as high temperatures and water content.
The article presents the results of research into the development of a new type of plastic grease based on calcium alkyl salicylates. In many respects, this salicylate grease is similar to more widely used sulfonate greases, but has a lower viscosity, allowing this product to be used at lower temperatures.
