Features of the methanol market in Russia

Prominent features and trends of the Russian methanol market development featuring the basic tactical parametres (facility and its loading, production, consumption structure, basic producers, products export-import, pricing policy, forecast of market development) are observed. Along with the traditional industrial production technology of methanol from synthesis gas, data on another technology of direct oxidative conversion of natural gas is cited, which is being developed by the Russian Academy of Sciences. This technology could be of interest for companies occupied with small-capacity methanol units development directly in places of gas mining. An estimation of its potential competitive advantages is given.

About the regulation of oxidation process of raw bitumen production

The work is devoted to developing the control method of tar oxidation process and inspection of bitumen quality based on the elements of mathematical modeling. Based on experimental data obtained mathematical description of tars oxidation process of different nature was developed. Regression equations describe the temperature changes of softening in the process of various group hydrocarbonic composition tars oxidation. Regression equations can be used for operative softening temperature control and technological operation inspection of oxidation process to get oxidized bitumen of required quality.

Deep demineralisation of water-oil emulsions characterised by a low рН value of aqueous phase

Researches and industrial experience of crudes preparation to processing at the desalting units of refineries show that there is a group of crudes which deep demineralisation is difficult due to abnormally high stability of water emulsions caused by low рН of aqueous phase. Those are heavy Prikamye oils as Bondyuzhsky, Nozhovsky, Kiyengonsky, Mishkinsky being processed by the Perm’nefteorgsintez and by the Kuybyshev Refinery. After a 3-step demineralization at a desalting unit there remained 15–20 mg/dm3 of chlorides. However, according to regulations the oil directed to primary distillation should contain no more than 3 mg/dm3 (bearing in mind the tendency to deepening of oil refining this parameter can be toughened).

Oil equipment washing: advantages & problems

In the article refinery equipment washing with industrial detergent hot water solutions is described. Advantages and disadvantages of such technology are shown and compared with steaming or oil solvent cleansing. Industrial detergent washing solution specification is suggested. The main attention is on the pre-washing preparations and on the washing technology. Different worked-up detergent solution (in fact – petroleum emulsion) utilization methods are suggested.

On the choice of density meter for measuring the density of crude oil and petroleum products

Density is a fundamental physical property that has to be used to characterize the mass of crude oil and petroleum products. Usually, the density of petroleum products is determined by a hydrometer or pycnometer, but the most effective way to do it is to use the electronic density meter. The paper discusses the cost-based selection criteria for laboratory density meter to determine the density of crude oil and petroleum products.

Used oils and lubricants regeneration technology optimization with consideration for modern conditions in Russian Federation

In the article changes of structure and properties of used lubricants are described and basic processing methods of used lubricants regeneration are compared. The optimum scheme of used oil regeneration including alkali treatment and vacuum distillation is revealed. The main advantage of this scheme is a high yield of a commodity output (more than 65%), which is impossible to achieve with other processing methods.
